05 Jun Treadle Yard Goods – Fabric Store in St Paul, Minnesota
Located on Grand Avenue, St Paul’s favorite shopping street; Treadle Yard Goods has been my go-to fabric store in the Twin Cities for 25 plus years. If I am planning any kind of clothing project, I typically start my fabric search here. They have quality, natural fiber fabrics with beautiful colors and prints. It’s always fun to look at everything in stock whether it fits your project or not. It’s also mandatory to check out the remnant bin to uncover more fabric treasures at a discount! 🙂
Treadle specializes in natural fiber fabrics for apparel. They have a well-curated collection of fabrics, including silk, wool, linen, rayon, cotton, oilcloth, and bridal lace. Some of the fabrics are imported from the mills of France and Italy.
The store has collections that include cotton prints from top designers like Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, and Joel Dewberry. You will also discover beautiful fabrics from the likes of Pendleton, Liberty Of London, Malden Mills, Alexander Henry, Free Spirit, Michael Miller, Andover, Westminster Fibers, Seven Islands, Kokka, Logantex, Robert Kaufman and many more.
They stock a wide selection of bridal fabrics and lace also. Ever-popular Chantilly lace, beaded and embroidered Alencon, and elegant Guipure work beautifully with pure silk chiffon, taffeta, shantung, or dupioni. All can be found here at Treadle!
Treadle also carries an extensive variety of buttons, as well as an ever changing collection of vintage buttons. Pick a button first and plan your project around it. The button collection is that unique and beautiful!
You will find all of the major of pattern lines at Treadle, including Vogue, Butterick, McCall’s, Simplicity, New Look and Burda patterns, as well as a number of independent pattern lines, including The Sewing Workshop, Shapes, Cutting Line Designs, Christine Jonson, Oliver + S, Folkwear, Petite Plus and Decades of Style.
If you need notions for your project, they’ve got you covered with that also. Thread, zippers, tapes, needles, and sewing supplies of all types are available to help you complete your projects. They also carry hand turned seam rippers and superior, sharp scissors.
The store has always been known for their customer service. If you have a question, their experienced staff is more than happy to dig in and help you.
Treadle offers a wide variety of sewing classes, including beginning sewing for adults and children. I have enjoyed many of their classes, learned alot and enjoyed the creative camaraderie with the teachers and other students.
If you are shopping from out of town or can’t make the drive locally, they offer a service where they send swatches. You just need to describe what you are looking for. The more details the better.
