The New Year is here! Unbelievable!😁 Here is a quick review of the Top 10 Projects of 2021 from the blog.
This is a great reminder and opportunity to try something new that you did not get around to last year.
Before we get started, I want to say a huge thank you for following along. It is a joy to build this site dedicated to creative inspiration and learning.
I am most certainly learning as I go, so thank you for the grace, kindness, and support you give me! I am so very grateful.
In this look back, you will see a couple of common themes; crafts and home decor is typically at the top of the list. Skirt sewing also made the cut. (Pun intended.) 😂
Without further ado, below are the Top 10 Projects of 2021.

DIY Table Runner
Easy, beginner sewing project! If you’ve ever looked for a table covering for a special occasion, but cannot find what you are looking for, maybe it’s time to make your own.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to make a table runner with bias trim. You can also sew matching napkins or placements with the same techniques.

DIY Basket Liner
This project is perfect for adding personality to baskets or containers in any room of your house. Great for home decor, organizing, or Easter baskets.
I love the way they add color, texture, warmth, and functionality to a shelf.
The tutorial will show you step-by-step how to make a DIY basket liner.

Spring Gnomes
So many of you love making GNOMES! Thanks to the talented Ruth Johnson, we have had ideas and inspiration for days!
Check out this popular post on her Spring gnomes. There is also an Easter Bunny Ebook with full-color steps to make one yourself.

Needle Felting
This post is a perennial favorite! In this beginners tutorial, learn how to needle felt and make adorable shapes with wool roving.
There’s with a materials list, instructions & video. Lucia takes us through a quick tutorial for creating tiny heart shapes out of wool.
These needle felted hearts are a wonderful beginner project because they are easy and quick.

Elastic Skirt
If you’ve never tried making clothes before, this is an excellent project to try! A free pattern is included.
This post is likely popular because it is a great beginner sewing project.
A DIY basic elastic waist skirt looks great on most body types and is tummy forgiving! It’s very versatile too; make it short or long, for hot or cold weather.

Make a Pillow Cover
Learn how to sew beautiful custom pillows with this pillow cover tutorial. They are easy and quick to make.
They are one step fancier than a basic envelope-style pillow because they include a border flange; but trust me, they are just as simple!

Wrap Skirt
Here’s another popular skirt post. This one is for a flattering wrap skirt.
I love the flexibility and comfort of wearing a wrap style. Whatever my current waist size is, it fits like a charm. 😂

Make a Slipcover
Refresh your old favorite footstool this year with a DIY ottoman slipcover.
This is a quick and easy solution to cover up the well-worn furniture and make your room look new again!
I am considering making #3 soon for our ottoman because it gets used so much, and it’s so much cheaper than replacing it. Plus, the best part, you get a new fabric choice to throw in the mix.

Plant Room Decor
Here is a creative, quick & inexpensive tutorial to make a custom faux plant arrangement.
If you choose your greenery carefully, your display can look rather real! Give it a try.

Door Curtains
This post walks you through how to make door curtains. It is a beginner-friendly sewing project that is simple & fast. If you can straight stitch and iron, you are golden!
This is a great, little update for your home. It is a great way to add privacy, cover up what’s in your closet, or simply add some color to your room. I know that you can do this!
