Need fabric? Check out SR Harris – a great fabric store in Minneapolis-St Paul. Oh lordy, kids. I get a little giddy going there, so I usually go alone, I wouldn’t want to embarrass myself.😄

Shopping for Fabric

For starters, there is a diverse selection of fabrics for both clothing, quilting, crafts, and home; including faux fur, designer leathers, upholstery, drapery, flannel, silk, cotton prints, and wool suiting, to name a few.

Buying Notions, Foam Inserts, and Polyfil Batting

There is also a nice variety of notions, foam cushions, polyester filling, stuffing, and batting. I especially like the full range of pillow forms, in lots of sizes…and they come in feather too! LOVE!

Where to Buy Trims and Embellishments

My favorite stop is hitting the bins. This is two aisles lined with bins that are packed with embellished trims, appliques, cording, jeweled pins, tassels, beaded decor and all kinds of unique items to help you personalize your designs.

It’s so fun to dig through and imagine what you can create!

Mpls-St Paul Fabric Store Locations

SR Harris has two locations in the Twin Cities (Minnesota), one in Brooklyn Park and one in Savage.

The Brooklyn Park location is larger and older. It has a wider selection but is not as well organized. It’s a chore to get to some of the items, namely fabrics. If you have an abundance of time and energy, and you love a good hunt, check out the Brooklyn Park location first.

If you are more of an OCD type and prefer stores that are new, tidy and organized, head over to Savage. At some point, you owe it to yourself to explore both of these great resources.
