Raclette Party Recipes

Be inspired to host friends in your home with these raclette party recipes! It is a memorable, fun, and a relaxed way to share a meal.

raclette cheese, 150-200g (5-7 oz) per person, sliced

new potatoes, (4-6 per person), boiled

protein, (your choice), sliced
beef fillet, chicken, ham, bacon, sausage, salami, shrimp, etc.

vegetables (your choice), sliced
red pepper, mushrooms, zucchini, onions, tomatoes, etc.

toppings (your choice)
cornichons/gherkins, Peruvian peppers, pickled baby corn, etc.

dips or sauces

  1. Make any dips or sauces first so the flavors can meld for a bit.
  2. Prepare the raw meat and shrimp beforehand. Cut all food into bite-sized portions so they have a chance to heat fully. Raclette grills are less powerful than a stovetop. Marinade meats as desired.
  3. Boil the potatoes in salt water until fork tender (10-18 minutes depending on size).
  4. Make a salad. (optional)
  5. Cut the cheese to fit the trays for your grill.
  6. When ready to serve, arrange all food on platters and bowls. Separate raw meat from other foods.
  7. Slice and plate the bread.
  8. Follow the instructions to set up your grill. Turn on to medium-high heat.
  9. Brush the grill plate with oil (I use avocado oil) or fry the bacon first to prep the grill. Then, use the bacon fat to cook the other foods.
  10. Place slices of meat, seafood, and vegetables on the hot grill plate. Start with the items that take longer to cook.
  11. While cooking on top of the grill, place cheese slices into the trays under the heating element.
  12. When melted, pour the melted cheese as desired over the warmed potatoes and vegetables. Enjoy!

All of the ingredients are up to you! Choose your favorites, from meats and seafood to vegetables and breads.

Add more flavor by marinating the meats and sprinkling the cheese with spices you enjoy. Make or purchase dips and sauces to customize the meal.

I stock up on raclette cheese when I see it at the stores, so I can have it beyond the holidays.

If you don’t use all of your cheese for raclette, you can use leftovers in casseroles, pasta dishes, egg dishes, etc. It should stay fresh when stored in the refrigerator for many weeks. Check the package for specifics. You can also freeze hard cheeses (according to this cheese article). I have yet to try it, though.

For cheese quantities, 1 package of raclette cheese for every 2 people or approximately 6 slices per person typically works well.
