Be sure to reduce the added sugar amount if using sugary cookies or biscuits, to balance the taste.
Combine spices or Mix-ins for your homemade crust
Ground cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg are delicious additions to taste test. Try adding ground nuts, such as pecans or walnuts for crunch.
Mix graham cracker crumbs, and both sugars. Add butter.
Tips for your Homemade Graham Cracker Crust
Here’s a couple of quick fixes if you need troubleshooting help for your graham cracker crust recipe.
Is your pie crust too crumbly or too wet?
If you use different cracker types or measure wrong, your mixture can be a bit off. If your crust consistency is not right, it’s easy to fix. Too sticky and wet? Just add more graham cracker crumbs. Is your crust too dry and crumbly, then simply add more melted butter. The butter acts like glue to hold crumbs together.😃
Use a fork to blend ingredients.
Not enough pie crust mixture?
Pans differ in sizes and if you run short for any reason, this mix is easily adjustable. Of course, you can make a whole new batch to add to it, but you can also just eyeball it. Add a couple more crackers and one tablespoon of butter at a time, until the consistency is just right.
