Gender Neutral Baby Shower Ideas (with Easy Menu and Decor)

Planning a baby shower? These Gender Neutral Baby Shower Ideas make any table feel warm, welcoming, and effortless.

Last week, I hosted a small baby shower for a friend’s daughter with our book club group. There were just six of us gathered around the table, relaxed, personal, and easy to enjoy. We did a virtual Zoom with the expecting couple later in the evening, which made it feel extra special as we celebrated this sweet season for the new parents.

For the decor, I chose a soft yellow and green color palette to keep everything gender neutral and light for spring. I loved an opportunity to use YELLOW for a gender-neutral theme rather than pink or blue. It created a warm and welcoming space for everyone.

I layered in natural jute accents, a yellow and white striped ruffle tablecloth, and gold flatware and candlesticks to bring in a little warmth and softness. Even though I used faux flowers for convenience, they still gave the table that fresh look you often get from real floral arrangements. I am thrilled that almost everything can be reused for Easter, which is right around the corner. 🙂

For the table, I also created baby shower place setting name tags for each guest using my Cricut and laser printer. It was a simple detail, but it made each place feel thoughtful and complete.

I also pulled out my mom’s vintage Haviland china with gold trim, which always makes my table feel more meaningful. I love mixing pieces like that into gatherings, and it would also be beautiful paired with a soft white color scheme if you wanted a slightly different look.

The Vision

For this gender-neutral shower, I wanted everything to feel cheerful. Yellow brings warmth and happiness, and green adds a soft spring touch. Together, they created a setting that felt calm but still joyful, which was perfect for celebrating a new mom and their growing family.

Steal This Soft Spring Table

If you want to recreate this look, focus on three simple elements. Start with your color palette. I used yellow, green, and white to keep everything cohesive.

Next, think about texture. The striped ruffle tablecloth added softness, the jute brought in a natural layer, and the gold accents added just a bit of sheen.

Finally, create one focal point. For this table, it was a simple centerpiece with faux flowers and candles that drew the eye without feeling heavy.

The Table Formula I Always Come Back To

1 Choose one main color story
2 Add one natural element
3 Layer something soft like linens or fabric
4 Stack plates, napkins, or decor to create dimension and interest
5 Include one personal detail, like a name tag, small gift, or small decorative touch
6 Add a soft glow with candles or subtle lighting
7 Keep the centerpiece simple and low so it doesn’t overwhelm the table
8 Mix textures to create warmth and interest
9 Use what you already have and build from there
10 Repeat colors in small ways, they don’t have to match exactly
11 Leave a little open space so the table doesn’t feel crowded

Key Elements

The linens set the tone right away and made the table feel soft and inviting.
The centerpiece with faux flowers and candles added just enough elegance.
Personal touches like the name tags and my mom’s china made everything feel more meaningful.
The gold flatware added a hint of shine without taking away from the softness of the palette.

The Menu

The menu was simple but delicious. I served chicken salad with croissants, a spinach salad with berries, and a vegetable tray. For dessert, I made chocolate bouchons inspired by the New York Times recipe, paired with homemade chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream from my favorite Ninja Creami Deluxe (affiliate link). It felt festive without being too over-the-top for a weeknight gathering.

The Theme Doubles as an Easter Table

One of the things I love most about this setup is how easily it transitions into an Easter table. Yellow and green work beautifully for both occasions.

With just a few small additions like eggs or simple seasonal touches, the table can take on a whole new feel. I am planning to reuse most of these pieces for Easter and simply swap out the baby shower name tags for a slightly updated version.

It is always a win when something can be used more than once and still feel fresh.

What Worked Best

Keeping the color palette simple made the biggest difference.
Using pieces I already had, along with a few new accents, kept everything easy and stress free.
Layering in meaningful details helped the table feel thoughtful and complete.
Keeping things simple allowed the evening itself to feel relaxed and enjoyable.

Simple Tips

Start with what you already have and build from there
Stick to two or three main colors so everything feels cohesive
Add one or two personal details to make the table feel special
Focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere rather than trying to make everything perfect
For a larger gathering, you might consider adding in baby shower games and party favors.

This baby shower came together so easily, and the table felt warm, cheerful, and inviting. It was a lovely way to celebrate a growing family and a sweet little bundle of joy on the way. I love that it can all be used again for Easter with just a few simple changes.

If you are hosting a shower where the baby’s gender or the sex of the baby has not been shared, I hope these ideas inspire your event and that you have a wonderful time!
