Chunky guacamole is delicious, quick, and easy to make. PS It’s equally amazing if you prefer to mash it up smooth.

Popular Appetizer
Guacamole is my famous (LOL) and most requested recipe! Although, I think that guacamole love, in general, is universal.
The best guacamole is homemade, with fresh and high-quality ingredients, customized with YOUR favorite add-ins.

Chips and Guacamole
Guacamole just says party to me! It’s no wonder it is such a popular appetizer. Serve it with chips and a margarita. It’s a complete meal. 😂

Appetizer Examples
Wanting more? Expand your appetizer spread to include nachos, quesadillas, Ceviche, Pico de Gallo, and homemade salsa. Yum!
Use as a dip with vegetables, crackers, or crusty bread.
What to Eat with Guacamole
Try smearing guac on sandwiches, wraps, toast, and burgers. It’s also excellent on top of your egg or potato dishes. Are you hungry yet?
And last but not least, of course, guacamole pairs well with Mexican-inspired dishes. See all of the Cinco de Mayo menu ideas below.

Keto Guacamole
Guacamole is worth celebrating on any occasion because it is actually healthy (in moderation). However, you do need to be careful with what you are pairing it with.
Avocados contain lots of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and they are a healthy fat.
Guacamole is also keto-friendly, gluten-free, and vegan.
Remember to use fresh, high-quality ingredients. Skip the packaged guacamole when you can. It may contain fillers and unhealthy ingredients.
Be sure to consult a registered and licensed dietitian, licensed nutritionist, or certified nutrition specialist if you have questions about ingredients and how they fit into your personal nutrition plan.

Seasoning Guacamole
Here’s what you’ll need to make guacamole, plus more seasoning ideas to play with. Let’s spice things up, shall we?
There are plenty of ways to make and season your guac. Try them all and see what you like best.
Remember, to keep it balanced by adding more or less of these ingredients. You will know it when you taste it.
Here are the yummy ingredients and more for experimenting:
Diced Red Onion I absolutely adore the red onion in this guac, but if you prefer it milder, use white onions. White onions are used commonly in many authentic Mexican guac recipes.
Cilantro If you are in Camp Cilantro (like myself!), add in extra fresh cilantro. I am slightly obsessed, but leave it out if you feel the opposite.
Jalapeño If you like spicy add another jalapeño or even his spicier cousin, the serrano. Serrano peppers are 2-4 times hotter than jalapeños. You could include the jalapeño seeds for more heat as well.
Lime Juice Be sure to use the real thing. Freshly squeezed is a game-changer. Lime enhances all the flavors and gives you that fresh I must be in Mexico taste.
Salt An essential ingredient to bring out all of the goodness.
Ground Cumin I am a fan! Add it in, to taste and see what you think. YUM!
Diced tomatoes I just love the taste and color tomatoes add but leave them if you don’t. Use Roma tomatoes which are less watery.
Garlic I love a lot of it but you do you!

4-Ingredient Guacamole Recipe
So you want to make guacamole, but you don’t want to mess around? I get it. Good news! You can still have tasty guac with minimal ingredients.
Here is all you need for a 4-ingredient base recipe.
Avocados Ripe are best
Garlic I believe this is mandatory, 😂 but skip it if you disagree. No judgment here.
Lime Freshly squeezed, please! Skip the bottled variety. Lime is mandatory.
Sea Salt What a fantastic finish. The gateway to delicious!
How to Make Avocado Dip
At long last, let’s make some delicious, mouth-watering guacamole!

Chunky Guacamole
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 12 servings (3 cups)
Description
You will absolutely love this guacamole. It’s restaurant-quality. Actually it’s better! 😁
I am always asked to make this one; it’s famous in my circles.
Ingredients
Guacamole Base
4 large ripe avocados
2 teaspoons (1 lemon) freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 teaspoons (1 lime) freshly squeezed lime juice
1 teaspoon garlic (1 clove), minced
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Highly Recommended but Optional
10 splashes of red Tabasco sauce
1/2 cup red onion, (1 small onion), diced
1 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and finely diced
1 medium tomato, seeded and diced
4 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
Instructions
Half the avocados, remove the pits, and spoon (or squeeze) into a medium-size bowl. Promptly add the lemon and lime juice and gently stir.
With a knife, I like to cut through the avocados in the bowl, to make it chunky. If you prefer it smooth, you can smush it with a fork to your desired consistency.
Mix in the remaining ingredients. Adjust seasoning if necessary with additional salt, tabasco, or lime. Enjoy!
Notes
Use large ripe avocados if you can find them. You can also add more avocados if yours are small or find some are not ready for primetime when you cut them open.
The perfect avocado is firm with a slight give when held. It should be a dark green color on the outside and (hopefully) flawless on the inside.
Look for avocados that still have the stem attached if possible. Gently press on one end with your finger to test. It should be firm but have a slight give to it.
Store leftover guacamole in refrigerate. Guacamole oxidizes and turns brown quickly. Two ways to extend the beautiful color are, 1) Put the leftover guacamole in a glass container or leftover dish, and smooth out the top. Pour a 1/2 inch of water over the top. Cover and store in the fridge. To serve, drain the water, squeeze in a bit of lime, stir, and it is ready to enjoy. This keeps it looking fresher for 2-3 days. 2) Or press plastic wrap directly onto the top surface of the guacamole to protect it from air getting in.

Can you Freeze Guacamole
If you want the best-flavored guacamole, it is best not to freeze it. Guacamole is best made and eaten fresh.
If you choose to freeze it, it should be eaten within a month or two of freezing.
Leave the extra add-ins, such as onion, tomato, and jalapeno, out of the mix. They add water and unwanted moisture.
Use the thawed guacamole in recipes with many other ingredients and flavors. Don’t use it as the star of the show.
Let me know if you make this recipe!
